Jimmy Liu (Shih-yu Liu) was born in Taiwan. He obtained his Masters degree from the Eastman School of Music at the University of Rochester.

Jimmy was invited to play concert in many countries over the world, and currently teaches at the National Taiwan University of Arts, and is also the artistic director of "Taiwan International Guitar Festival/Competition" since 2012.

1st place in the "1996 National Taiwan Guitar Competition.", Recipient of the "1996 NTAA Concerto Contest Award."

1st place in "2002 Taiwan Guitar Duo Contest," and 2nd place in "2002 Taiwan Guitar Solo Contest."

Honored with "2003 Outstanding Alumnus Award" in the National Taiwan University of Arts.
